It’s ‘David Kraemer’ Weekend

The FMUU Church Warmly Welcomes David Kraemer

David Kraemer is a student at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities where he is pursuing a Master’s of Divinity. He hopes to graduate in May 2013. He currently has aspirant status with the Unitarian Universalist Association on a path toward ministerial fellowship. David served as ministerial intern at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Rochester, MN, in 2011-2012. He just completed a chaplaincy internship in the summer of 2012 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He has had an opportunity to lead worship at several other UU congregations, including in Ames, IA, and Mankato, Willmar, Fridley and Mahtomedi, MN. He has never had so much fun while working in his life; and he has spent a career having fun!

Previously, David worked in journalism, most recently serving from 2000 to 2008 as editor of The Tribune of Ames, Iowa, a smart daily newspaper in a quaint Midwestern university town just north of Des Moines. He has worked at small to medium-sized newspapers in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa since 1984. As a writer, he has been drawn to environmental issues and outdoor recreation. He’s found that the editor’s job afforded a great platform for writing, critiquing, coaching and community involvement. Journalism, at a basic level, is about words and about people. Ministry deepens this focus-–it is still all about words and people, and creating meaning in our lives.

This Weekend’s Schedule of Events:

FMUU Church Adult Religious Education Class on Friday, March 8, at 7 p.m.      David Kraemer will lead a second session of Building the World We Dream About, is a Untiarian Universalist program that seeks to interrupt the workings of racism and transform how people think.

Building the World We Dream About Through Spiritual Practice

FMUU Church Workshop on Saturday, March 9, at 9 a.m. Spiritual practices. What feeds you? David Kraemer will lead this workshop of daily practices to help you find the ground of your being. Wear comfortable clothes.

Worship Service on Sunday, March 10, at 11 a.m.                                                  Whence Comes Grace?                                                                                                      As Unitarian Universalists move beyond the old ideas of sin and atonement, the classic idea of grace is something we are not sure what to do with. No longer do we need a free pass on damnation. And still life is full of grace. David Kraemer will share experiences of grace from Africa and South America in this service.

*Join us for our annual spring ahead potluck after the 3/10 service.
